Yesterday, we very successfully pulled off the first ever French Ring trial in Southwestern Ontario! There is no way we could have done it without the help of our family and friends in French Ring.
A very big thank you to Judge John Bayreuther who drove here from Montreal and gave, yet again, another very firm and fair trial for all the dogs. Every dog earned their points. Also a big thank you to the Hommes Assistants Wade Morrell who travelled from Ohio, and Frederick Labrousse who travelled from Toronto for their intensity and presence, these were two very formative decoys who really brought it! A special congrats to Ari Fleishman who travelled from Chicago with his beaut of a Malinois, Zica, for multiple Dog In Whites and for helping with the deputy judging – we could not have pulled this off without you! We will see you at the Chi-Town Ringers trial in a few weeks.
Also a huge thank you to Jennifer Henrikson and Joey Henrikson for the dirty and unsung work as Trial Secretary and setup, and to John Warden for tirelessly helping with food refusal and setting up the field.
A further thank you to my parents who helped out with food and offered their cheering and support. I also want to give a special thank you to the London Schutzhund Club and Redline Shepherds PSA Club for taking the time to come and support us. We look forward to returning the favour.
Lastly, thank you to the competitors: Josee, Laurie and Aristide for travelling long distances to support us! We will be out in Montreal and Calgary to support! It’s the only way Ring will continue to grow.
Perhaps most of all, I want to personally thank my amazing wife, Alexandra, to whom none of this would have happened. You are amazing and my better and more calm half!
While neither Indi or Mako passed, we had a great time (although maybe not in the process of failing) but we learned where our weaknesses are and we will re-tool and try again…SOON! So today we will mope around a little bit and feel sorry for ourselves, but tomorrow we will train and get back on to rebuilding for a successful next result.
