We had a really eventful year in 2016 and we hope to build up on it next year!
We focused our efforts on Ionn and Ludo this year as we retired Indi and semi-retired Mako* (more on this later). We travelled to Ohio, Massachusetts, New York, and France to compete with Ionn. We were exceptionally proud with how he did, and but for some silly handling errors by Ryan which took some significant points from him, he may very well have become the CRA Ring II Champion. We were very happy that he finished as the 2016 Canada Cup Vice-Champion and had two exceptionally good showings in Ring III as a DIW. Lastly, Ionn became a father after having 9 beautiful and awesome pups in France this past August.
We also unveiled Ludo in Massachusetts where he obtained his CSAU. This was a busy summer for Alex and the key to success long term with our “caribou” is to not rush him. He’s a big dog with a lot of maturing to do. Although we would have loved to have put a brevet on him this year, the long term goal is Ring III, so he will be trialled when the team is ready.
We also happily brought Mako out of his semi-retirement and he will be handled by our new club member and decoy Sean James! These two have hit is off famously, despite Mako’s normally ornery personality. Since Sean is new to Ring, we will spend the winter and spring building the team and we hope to have them hit the field in Ring II next spring/summer!
The year closed with a bang as we were fortunate enough to host the Canada Cup for the second time in 3 years! We had dogs from Canada, the US, and France attend and the event went off without any issues and everybody had a blast!
Thanks for all who supported us this year, we will see you in 2017.
